Microsoft Silverlight is a web browser plug-in for Internet Explorer.

It was introduced in December 2006. The plug-in is Internet Explorer's first plug-in for vector graphics. Popularity has grown since many web-games now run through this program rather than Adobe Flash, such as Linerider.
